Can’t Unsee is an online quiz that we were asked to take in our Interactive Media 1 course. It is a quiz that shows a series of two side by side mobile layouts where you’re asked to choose the correct one, as far as layout and design choices. Some of the “wrong” choices have incorrect spacing, font size, or image quality. Looking back at my old score I achieved a “Platinum” rating with a score of 7580, which put me in the top 5% of people that have taken the quiz. When writing about the quiz the first time around, I made note of challenges in regards to word and line spacing.
As an interesting comparison, we were asked to take the quiz again now in our Interactive Media 3 course. I took the quiz twice this time around and my score was actually worse both times. To be fair it looks like I took a really long time to take the quiz in my previous class, whereas I moved much more quickly this time around. My better score was achieving a “Silver” rating with a point total of 6880, putting me in the top 25% of participants. I particularly noticed that I did not have an issue getting word or line spacing questions wrong like I did last time, however, I had much more difficulty with color contrast or button color questions. I feel like this showed that my attention to detail improved with the layout and formatting of pages but declined in the color and contrast visuals. Maybe my eyesight is deteriorating? Or maybe I was so focused on the spacing aspect that I overlooked the color contrasts.
Overall, it was fun to take the quiz again and see where my attention to detail has both improved or slacked. Maybe taking the quiz much more slowly would secure a Platinum rating again, or maybe I need to get my eyesight checked!
